Struggling with anxiety, depression and/or relationship issues really...well...sucks. No need to sugar coat it. And talking to a stranger about your most intimate concerns takes a big leap of faith and incredible courage. I'm honored you are considering taking this step with me. We will work as a team and develop a plan together - identifying possible barriers to happiness in the past and guiding you toward a more healthy and rewarding life. You shouldn't have to struggle so much - let's figure this out so you can start feeling better.

    About Me

First, you should know that I feel passionate about my work. It is truly an honor to help others find the path that is healing, calming, more fulfilling or simply makes their lives feel better.

Now for the more dry but important details! I work with adults on a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, academic or professional struggles, relationship conflict and family of origin issues. This dedication has fueled over 30 yrs  of helping clients in  schools, hospitals, mental health clinics and private practice. I work hard connecting with clients, wherever they are in their mental health journey and developing a relationship based on trust and mutual respect.

My own professional and personal journey shifted dramatically ten years ago when I became a yoga devotee. This led to an in-depth training in Subtle Yoga, a resilience based approach that focuses on slow movements to improve communication between brain and body. Now I often incorporate poses into sessions and/or suggest a home practice. Since 2018, I have lead Yoga for Anxiety - a 6wk  series building resilience and improving mental health. Check it out at the Sage Yoga page.

Of course yoga isn’t for everyone, so don’t worry I won’t go overboard with eastern sayings or poses. We might simply talk and figure out what will be most helpful for you or maybe we will interweave some yoga and breathing practices into the time we spend together. I appreciate you trusting me to help you in this difficult yet pivotal time in your life.

    Meet Mia!

Lastly, meet Mia! She is my 12lb Cavapoo (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Poodle mix) who is very sweet and calm, hypoallergenic, well trained and, most importantly, loves to snuggle! Please know that she is a fixture in the office and if you don’t like dogs or have significant fears, my practice probably won’t be a fit. Of course, she is happy to sleep in my lap or in her bed if you would prefer it. Please ask me any questions or communicate your concerns before the intake appointment so our work together can go as smoothly as possible.

    Yoga for Anxiety Series

Traditional psychotherapy helps us to discover the roots of our anxiety and use cognitive strategies to intervene during anxious times. But what happens when the body doesn’t feel calm as a result? When there is a disconnect between mind and body? Yoga can offer a unique pathway that works with the physical system of anxiety and increases the communication between mind and body - connecting these two systems and helping us to feel more balanced, calm and centered.

In this series, you will better understand why and when yoga can be used as an effective complement to the treatment of anxiety. The groups will clarify the relationship between body and brain and offer yoga poses to reduce symptoms. Ultimately, I strive to demystify how and why yoga works and build skills to allow for greater empowerment in navigating tough emotional challenges.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Please email me at suzanne@suzannerharman.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Your choice – call and leave me a message or email me at suzanne@suzannerharman.com. I will get back to you ASAP and we can discuss our fit, financial/insurance or other questions and the next steps.

We will meet for 50-60min and, most importantly, find out what has brought you to my office.  I will answer any questions you might have about me, how I work and how we might work together. We will also go over some history and go through some business – clarify insurance coverage, co-pays etc.  I will ask some questions to begin the thorough assessment of your situation and will continue this in the following sessions.

Since I work with many adults that have a hard time coming during the day, I do have some evening hours.  Those fill up quickly though, so if they aren’t available when you contact me, we will work towards getting you an evening time.  People often choose, however, to come over their lunch hour, go late into work or leave early so we can get started right away.

There is 2 hr free parking throughout Linden Hills and the surrounding neighborhoods. Please be sure to not block or get too close to any driveways. If you come on a Monday, Great Harvest spots are available since they are closed.

No worries, I will not bombard you with yoga or expect it to even be a regular part of our work together.  I do, however, find yoga to be very powerful as a partner to traditional psychotherapy.  Moving the body and connecting brain and body can get to underlying issues that talking simply can’t reach. But you are the boss – we will only utilize yoga as you are comfortable and if it makes sense.
